Developed for a private client in Amsterdam, the project places a new office building within the city’s dense historic fabric.
Weathered corten steel forms a deep, irregular façade between the neighbouring brick buildings. Recessed windows, projecting frames and large areas of glass break down its vertical mass, while the changing surface of the steel responds to the colour and age of the surrounding masonry.
The visualisation follows the building from clear daylight into the wet, blue evenings of Amsterdam, when the corten façade becomes almost dark and the timber-lined interiors begin to define the architecture from within.
